Night, weekend, fiesta week
Emergency locksmith in Crevillente, when the door won’t give and it’s late
The door shut behind you with the keys on the table, keys lost on a night out, a key that snapped in the lock, a lock that will not close as you leave for work. Ring at whatever hour it is, and someone picks up.
Open 24 hours · 7 days
- Picked up at any hour
- English and Spanish
- Price agreed before work starts
When you ring: you are asked where you are and what the door is doing, you hear honestly how long the drive looks from where the van is at that moment, and when the locksmith arrives the price is agreed with you before any tool touches the lock.
Call-outs
The calls that cannot wait until morning
- Locked out, keys inside. Most doors that have only been pulled shut are opened through the latch or the cylinder without damage.
- Keys lost. In a bar, in the crowd, on the train home. The door is opened, and if the keys could turn up in someone else’s hands the cylinder is changed before we leave.
- A broken key, or a key that will not turn. The piece is drawn out of the cylinder, and the cylinder replaced if it was the cause.
- A door that will not lock. A latch that will not catch, a multipoint lock out of line. The door is made to lock for the night; a proper repair can be booked for daylight.
- A forced door. It is made to close and lock now; the stronger lock can follow, see what happens after a break-in.
- Keys locked in the car. That has its own page, including what we do not do.
Crevillente at night
Three things about this town that change a night call-out
The old town is walked, not driven
The Vila Vella keeps the narrow, winding streets of the Islamic town, and the cave district round it climbs the ravines. The van stops where it can and the last stretch is on foot with the tools, so the nearest square or landmark helps as much as the street name. The cave house and old town page has more.
The settlements are a separate drive
El Realengo, San Felipe Neri, Las Casicas, Barrio de la Estación and Rincón de los Pablos are all part of the municipality but lie away from the town, San Felipe Neri about six kilometres out. Say the settlement first. Every place we reach, and what to say there.
Fiesta nights fill the centre
Holy Week, a Fiesta of International Tourist Interest, brings processions through the centre in spring, and the Moros y Cristianos fill the streets at the end of September and into October. On those nights the locksmith walks in from wherever the van can stop. If the keys went missing in the crowd, read what to try first during Holy Week; if they are at work in another town, how to decide whether to go back for them.
In order
What happens between the call and the open door
-
You ring, or send a pin
Where you are, what happened, what kind of door. A photo of the lock helps.
-
You hear the honest estimate
How long the drive looks for that address at that hour. No made-up number of minutes.
-
You show it is your door
An ID with the address, a rental contract, or the owner on the phone. If it is all inside, it is checked once the door opens.
-
The price is agreed
The lock is looked at, the options explained, and the price agreed before work starts.
-
You can lock up again
Opened through the lock wherever possible. If the cylinder had to go, a new one goes in before we leave.
Questions
Asked on the phone in the small hours
Is the line really answered at four in the morning, or does it go to voicemail?
It is answered. The phone is picked up at any hour, every day of the year, and the call-out goes ahead at night for anyone shut out of a home, a car or premises.
I am out at San Felipe Neri and it is late. Will you still come?
Yes. The settlements are part of the call-out area at any hour. They are a few kilometres from the town, so the estimate you are given on the phone will include that drive.
The key has snapped and half is still in the cylinder. Should I try to pull it out?
Better not. Tweezers and pins usually push the broken piece further in. Keep the half you have; it shows how the key broke and it is often useful when the cylinder is opened.
It is a procession night and the centre is closed. Can you get to my door?
Yes, on foot from wherever the van can stop. Give the street, the nearest corner or square, and the side of the procession route you are on.
I rent the flat and the landlord does not answer. Can you still open it?
Usually. Have the rental contract or a message from the landlord on your phone; if everything is inside, it is checked once the door is open, before anything else is done.
